  • Northland

    Operations Manager, Di Lawson

    Northland area covers from Kaitaia to south of Kaiwaka (excluding the Hokianga area).

    We have 17 Plunket Nurses, three Kaiawhina & one Karitane, a Family Centre and 25 clinics some of which are held on marae, play-centres, libraries and GP rooms to name a few.

    Plunket volunteers and staff work together to provide a range of services including growth & development checks, coffee groups, playgroups, Whānau āwhina Whānau ora support, car seat hire and education services, workshops covering starting solids, baby massage, and PEPE parenting education courses.

  • Waitemata

    Area Manager, Caro Watts

    Waitemata is an exciting area of growth that covers West Auckland, North Shore, River Valley and the Rodney district - from New Lynn through to Warkworth, Wellsford including the Kumeu/Helensville area.

    We have 30 clinics, Plunket on Wheels (a mobile bus), five Car Seat Rental locations and two Family Centres - one in the West and one on the North Shore.

    The team consists of over 60 clinical staff, made up of Community Karitane, Plunket Kaiawhina and Plunket Nurses, and many more support staff that keep things working well behind the scenes.

    We have a strong volunteer network and as a result we are able to offer other services such as PEPE parenting courses, parent support groups, toy libraries and committees that are constantly reviewing and responding to the needs of the community.

  • Auckland City

    Area Manager, Sheryl Orton

    Auckland City Plunket covers the area from Avondale to Otahuhu which is set between two harbours, amongst 11 extinct volcanoes and is home to a large, ethnically diverse population.

    Our paid staff and volunteers provide the following services and support:

    • Plunket Nurse well child checks at home and from clinics
    • Parenting support and education offered by Community Karitane and Plunket Kaiawhina
    • Intensive support (family centre service)
    • Parenting courses (PEPE) for different age and stages
    • Parent support/new mothers groups
    • Play groups
    • Car seat rental services
    • Pre-school facilities

  • Counties-Manukau

    Area Manager, Louise Troy

    Counties-Manukau borders extend south of the Mangere and Panmure bridges, flanked by the Manukau and Waitemata harbours to Port Waikato on the west coast and to Kaiaua on the east coast and across inland to Mercer. We are the fastest growing area in New Zealand.

    We see over 7500 babies born each year and have have a multi-cultural and ethnic team of 114 staff reflecting the diversity in our community.

    Plunket volunteers and staff work together to provide a range of services including Well Child health assessments, a Family Centre service in Manukau, and a Mobile Bus Clinic - providing an accessible service for families/whānau.

    Also on offer is car seat hire, coffee groups, PEPE parenting education sessions, Plunket Kaiāwhina service for Maori whānau, antenatal pregnancy and parenting classes.

  • Waikato

    Area Manager, Sue Hardley

    Waikato is the fourth largest region in New Zealand,covering 25,000 sq kms. The main centre is Hamilton which is the fourth largest city in New Zealand. Our boundaries are Te Kauwhata in the North, Raglan in the West, Whangamata/Waihi in the East and Taumarunui in the South.

    Our Plunket volunteers and staff work together to provide many services in Waikato region:

    • Clinics offering visits with Plunket Nurses, Plunket Kaiawhina and Communtiy Karitane

    Plunket in the Lakes region is governed by the Lakes Area Society, made up of representatives from local Plunket sub branches, along with the NZ Councillor, while a Māori Caucus supports the delivery of services to Maori clients.

    Lakes services include Plunket nursing, Community Karitane and Kaiawhina home visits and clinics, car seat rental service, parenting courses and parent support groups.

    Plunket in the region is governed by the Bay of Plenty Area Society, made up of representatives from local Plunket committees, along with the NZ Councilor, while a Māori Caucus supports the delivery of services to Maori clients.

    Bay of Plenty services include Plunket nursing, Community Karitane and Kaiawhina home visits and clinics, child car-seat hire, parenting courses, parent support groups and pre-school facilities.

  • Gisborne-Wairoa

    Area Manager, Sarah Mulcahy

    The Gisborne Plunket area covers from Wairoa through to Matawai, east of Gisborne to Makarori.

    Staff includes Area Manager, one Clinical Leader, Volunteer Services Leader, six Plunket Nurses, two Kaiawhina and Administration support staff.

    Plunket volunteers provide a range of services including car seat hire and coffee groups in the Wairoa area and coffee groups, playgroups, support groups for multiple births and post natal depression in the Gisborne area.

    We have a number of volunteer groups who support our services by fundraising, giving their time and providing feedback to help develop and improve our support and services to families.

  • Hawke's Bay

    Area Manager, Sarah Mulcahy

    Hawke's Bay area covers from Central Hawke's Bay Waipukurau through to Te Pohue and up to Tutira and out to Patoka.

    Staff include Area Manager, two Clinical Leaders, Volunteer Services Leader, 12 Plunket Nurses, three Community Karitane and Administration support staff.

    Plunket volunteers provide a range of services including Car Seat Rental Services, Toy Libraries, coffee groups, playgroups, support groups and parenting education including PEPE courses.

    We have a number of volunteer groups who support our services by fundraising, giving their time and providing feedback to help develop and improve our support to families. These groups can be a great way to meet people and become involved in your community.

    Plunket in the Taranaki region is governed by the Taranaki Area Society, made up of representatives from local Plunket sub branches and committees, along with the NZ Councilor, while a Māori Caucus supports the delivery of services to Māori clients.

    Taranaki Plunket services include Plunket nursing, Community Karitane and Kaiawhina home visits and clinics, car-seat & nursery equipment rental/hire services, ante-natal courses and other parenting courses, parent support groups, drop-in centres, social groups and playgroups.

  • Manawatu-Whanganui

    Area Manager, Jo Malcolm-Black

    The Manawatu-Whanganui Area covers the area from Otaki in the south to Ohakune in the north and the Dannevirke and North Wairarapa in the East.

    The Plunket Nurses, Community Karitane, Plunket Kaiawhina provide Well Child services both in the home and in clinics to families/whānau in the region. Playgroups and parenting courses are supported by Plunket volunteers.

    The main centres of Whanganui and Palmerston North have Family Centres, which provide help and support on parenting, breastfeeding, child behaviour and parent/family needs. Parenting courses, support groups, drop in clinics and home visiting services are also available.

  • Wellington-Wairarapa

    Area Manager, Tina Syme

    Wellington-Wairarapa Area extends from the mountains to the sea. The northern border is Peka Peka in the west and Mt Bruce in the east and encompasses Kapiti Coast, Porirua City, Wellington City, Lower Hutt City, Upper Hutt City and Wairarapa.

    Staff consisting of 44 Plunket Nurses, 10 Community Karitane, three Kaiawhina, supported by four Clinical Leaders and five Administration staff, provide services in family centres, clinics, marae and home visits.

    The Area is governed by the Area Society, comprising representatives from 12 Branches led by the NZ Councillor.

    Plunket volunteers and staff work together to provide a range of services including Well Child assessments, support groups, parenting courses (PEPE), car seat hire, education groups, toy libraries and playgroups.

  • Nelson-Marlborough

    Area Manager, Sonya Briggs

    The Nelson-Marlborough area offers services across the top of the South Island. The Nelson-Marlborough Plunket team has more than 20 Plunket nurses, Karitane and support staff providing services. All services, like car-seat rentals and parenting courses, are supported by Plunket volunteers.

    Plunket in the region is governed by the Nelson-Marlborough Area Society, made up of representatives from local Plunket sub branches & branches, along with the NZ Councilor, while a Māori Caucus supports the delivery of services to Māori clients.

    Nelson-Marlborough services include Plunket nursing, Community Karitane, home visits and clinics, child car-seat hire, parenting courses, toy library and parent support groups.

  • Canterbury

    Area Manager, Anne Feld

    Plunket Canterbury provides a service for those living from Cheviot to Dunsandal and to Arthur's Pass. There are 58 clinics and a Family Centre staffed by 34 nurses and 11 Karitane or Kaiawhina. There is a service for families experiencing distress or depression after the birth of a child.

    Additional services are funded by an active group of volunteers. These include PEPE parenting courses, coffee groups, toy libraries, car seat rental services and support in Clinics/Family Centre.

    The region is governed by the Canterbury Area Society, made up of representatives from local Plunket committees and the NZ Councillor. There are four Māori Kaumatua who provide support for clients and staff.

  • Mid-South Canterbury

    Area Manager, Anne Feld

    Plunket Mid-South Canterbury provides services for those living in the Mid-South Canterbury area, bordered by the Rakaia and Waitaki Rivers and the Southern Alps.

    There are a total of 19 clinics and a Family Centre which is located in Timaru. Services are provided by eight Plunket nurses and four Karitane staff.

    Many services are funded and coordinated by an active group of volunteers. These include PEPE parenting courses, coffee groups, toy libraries and car seat rental services.  In addition a Post-natal Adjustment service is offered for women having challenges adjusting to being a new parent.

    Plunket is governed by the Mid-South Canterbury Area Society, made up of representatives from local Plunket committees and the NZ Councillor.

  • West Coast

    Operations Manager, Sonya Briggs

    The West Coast is a unique and large geographical region, and West Coast Plunket is supporting the current baby boom with three Plunket nurses, two Community Karitane and other supporting Plunket staff.

    All services, like car seat rentals and parenting courses, are supported by Plunket volunteers.

    There are four districts and one city in the Plunket Otago area, being Central Otago District, Waitaki District, Clutha District, the Wanaka ward of the Queenstown Lakes District and Dunedin city.

    Otago services include Plunket nursing, Community Karitane, home visits and clinics, car seat hire, parenting courses, parent support groups, playgroups and coffee groups.

    Area Manager, Barb Long

    The Southland Plunket Area encompasses all of the Southland District, Gore District, Invercargill City, and Queenstown Lakes District.

    Our services include Plunket nursing, Community Karitane, home visits and clinics, car seat hire, parenting courses, parent support groups, playgroups and coffee groups.

    There are several groups in the Southland Area supported by the volunteers, for example, music and movement, a toy library and walking groups.
