You may see your child's behaviour change after you introduce them to a new partner. Here are some tips to help your child adjust to having a new person in their life.
- Let your child talk about their feelings.
- Have special time together with just you and your child.
- Keep to your normal routines as much as possible.
- Let your child and new partner get to know each other gradually.
It may help to continue managing your little one's behaviour on your own, rather than having your new partner jump in right away. Talk with your new partner about their views on parenting and managing behaviour problems in kids.
It may take a while for your partner to establish their relationship with your child, and develop trust –and that's okay.
