What if I’m a newly graduated Registered Nurse?

We have a number of new graduates starting with us every year,in fact, a few of our leaders started here straight after receiving their state exam results, and have gone on to carve careers.

Working in the community has unique challenges. Take time to read more about our community nursing role to see if the nature of the work is going to be the best fit for you. Starting without experience in PlunketLine can be more difficult as the hands-on clinical work supports and cements your understanding of the caller’s issues. However, if you have other telehealth or triaging experience, feel free to apply.

As well as the orientation plans mentioned for these roles, there is ongoing support available to you both through our experienced clinical leaders, and clinical education team.

Working in Well Child Tamariki Ora will mean you are likely to be eligible to apply for the Health New Zealand Voluntary Bonding scheme ($8,499 after three years or $14,165 after five years).

Looking to return to nursing, or are you a Registered Nurse from overseas?

The first step is to speak with the New Zealand Nursing Council to understand requirements to obtain an APC.

Note any conditions of practice when you apply. If you are the best fit for the role we can normally support supervision requirements.

We are an accredited employer with Immigration NZ. However you will need to seek independent immigration advice, or reach out to Immigration NZ.

What do you pay?

Alongside the benefits you will receive working here, you can have a look at our collective agreement to see our current hourly rates and allowances for PDRP, as well as our full terms and conditions.

Can I transfer my PDRP into Plunket?

Yes, if you are already on a NCNZ approved PDRP you can apply to have your PDRP transferred.

You won't need to present your portfolio, but you must complete a PDRP transfer application form and show evidence of your current programme.

You’ll then submit a portfolio after 12 months of starting with us, or at the previous portfolio expiry date (whichever comes first).
