An expansion of services offered at Whānau Āwhina Plunket’s Meadowbank Family Centre has been warmly welcomed by the community.

Well Child Tamariki Ora and Lactation Consultant appointments have increased from one to two days per week and a drop-in clinic is available weekly. A weekly coffee group, a B4 School Check clinic every second Monday and a monthly first aid course are currently running too.

Clinical Leader Ange Wheeler says the Meadowbank team has worked hard to find different ways of utilising the centre to best suit local whānau in the Eastern Bays area, and the new services are overwhelmingly popular.

“We have welcomed an additional Plunket nurse on board and our lactation consultant has increased her availability. This is making a huge difference as we are able to see parents and families who are needing support sooner, to ensure they get the help they need.

“The positive feedback from whānau has been so encouraging and we are now exploring other services we could provide to support the local community.”
