The Big Latch On is a New Zealand-wide event that celebrates and supports breastfeeding. This year is the 20th anniversary, with events running from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th April 2025 across New Zealand.
Many of our Plunket clinics are running events (details below), and we'll also be running a live chat at 12.30pm on Friday 4 April on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Join our lactation consultants for a kōrero about feeding and feel free to ask your questions.

Breastfeeding support at Plunket
Whānau Āwhina Plunket offers in-person and virtual support with breastfeeding, at our Plunket clinics, family centres and through PlunketLine, our 24/7 free phone line for parenting and child health support.
Since 2018 we have offered free, private sessions with qualified lactation consultants via video chat. We're proud to report that over the first eight months of this financial year, we have already delivered 1,927 virtual consultations to support breastfeeding whānau. That's a 23.5% increase over the entire financial year before!
We're so happy to see the popularity of this service grow, and look forward to both growing and continuing this mahi that empowers māmā to breastfeed with confidence.
